DIY Wedding Invites
We bounced all over the place trying to figure out what we wanted to do for invites. What we did know for sure was that we weren’t willing to spend a lot of money on pieces of paper that would eventually be tossed in the garbage.
I’ve been going for a vintage vibe for our wedding decor and decided on designing our own invites on Adobe’s various programs. Lots of frustrating nights…lots of redos, but I think we are almost finished! We found our paper at the Paper Zone (tons of options!). We opted for a vintage green color, somewhere between lime and avocado. I wish my pictures showed the more accurate color… For the inserts letting our guests know how to RSVP as well as where we are registered we chose an adorable brown card stock that is textured like tree bark, primarily to represent the Oak trees we’ll be married under. And for the envelopes the same bright green as the main invitation. All together we spent $67.70 and we will be returning 2 packages of envelopes for about $17 = so paper cost us right around $50.00!!!
After many trials I finally came up with the invite design:
And on our paper it looks like this:
I did a similar design (but the size of a business card) for the inserts. I’m now regretting how small they are, but they’ll have to work since we are getting so close to the wedding. We opted to not have our guests R.S.V.P via mail, and instead asked for guests to kindly reply via our wedding website or our email addresses. It may not be traditional or very formal, but we prefer to waste as little paper as possible and make it simple for our guests to R.S.V.P. I hope this works! Do you think guests will more likely respond this way then mailing back a response?
Printing at FedEx Office cost us right around $4.00! We used the paper slicers there and now the final step is addressing the envelopes. My printer is being lame…so, we’re going to opt for the clear labels instead of spending more time trying to get my printer to print on the envelopes.
Cost Breakdown:
$50.00 for paper products
$4.00 printing
$13.00 Avery Clear Address Labels (with extra left over)
$44.00 Mailing Stamps
TOTAL= $111.00
