I was THIS CLOSE to throwing the computer on the floor!
DIY Wedding Invites….
Great idea! Not so great doing…
Did you watch the special on TV of Molly and Jason’s Wedding? Do you recall the part when Jason mentioned how incredible Molly was during the planning, so easy going and joyous, that he fell in love with her that much more..blah blah blah. I wanted to scream and throw a tantrum and well…truth be told I kinda did throw a tantrum. She had planners and organizers and obviously not a budget looming over her every decision – OF COURSE she was so calm and joyous – what bride wouldn’t be! I’ll admit I was slightly jealous… Planning weddings are not all jelly beans and M&Ms… We’ve had our fair share of arguments, and lately a few crying fits from me…. Only 4 months to go with details needing planning and lists to be checked off. I’m stressed. I’m not sleeping well and I know I should be saying “Heidi it’s ONE day!” But, how do you do that when you are just so darn excited and you’ve put your heart into so much!? ANY SUGGESTIONS LADIES?
I’m totally exhausted tonight as I just spent about 9 hours straight working on our invites and wedding website….Good grief! The plan was to have Jonnathan design them, but I was too picky and kept changing my mind and kept getting frustrated that he wasn’t designing what I had pictured in my head. It didn’t help that that picture kept changing, although the “tone” of the invite stayed the same. I’m hoping some of you are sympathizing with me on this one
Well, after a few hefty arguments it seemed that my two options were this:
(a) Jonnathan design the invitations and I be happy with whatever the end result was. (knowing this would involve a lot of back and forth and frustration for the both of us).
(b) I design the invites getting exactly what I wanted.
So… I designed them…and almost threw the computer on the floor! I also created our free wedding website so our guests can RSVP and find info that way (we’re all about going green!) I might add I think I am borderline delusional at the moment because it went something like this:
“…no I don’t want that graphic…I want something more “vintage”…something gardening…okay that works…now into photoshop..wait how do you create that layer and erase that line…and wait where did it go…crap!..Jonnathan! I lost the image.. where did it go…wait Control F9 what? No erase, not blur….how do I get polka dots? No not big dots, little dots… The margins are off. What do you mean it depends on your printer’s preferences? That’s Crap! It says it’s fine here. Are you kidding me!? So the freaking margins are .6 here .79 there? That’s stupid! No…I need them grouped…Wait it’s locked and that won’t work. No!…..ohhhh that looks nice!”
YES…. this my dear friends is the truth behind making your own invites… Not a pretty process for this bride…However, I like how they look and at this point am saying “go with it!”
GOAL: Get the invites in the mail by April 15th!!!
